If there is one segment that focuses the attention of the Nigerian economy in the ICT sector, it is that of mobile telephony. However, according to Professor Sanjay Misra, a teacher of computer engineering in the Department of Computer Science and Information Science at the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Convenant, the computer software subsector is a a real gold mine for the country.

Speaking during a meeting organized at this university based in the state of Ogun, under the theme: “Global software development: challenges and opportunities in Nigeria”, Professor Sanjay Misra campaigned for a repositioning strategy of the software sub-sector which has a potential revenue generator of around 300 billion dollars. He regretted the lack of attention given to this part of computing by the former minister of telecommunications and TIC, Omobola Johnson, and the rarity of the private initiatives.

To give Nigeria a chance to keep its economy green and double in the next six to seven years, Sanjay Misra called on the federal government to create outsourcing centers in major cities in Nigeria. This would help attract global software projects to the country.

CEO AfrikaTech

Rejoignez-nous ! LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/boubacardiallo
