Yes We Sell is the name of the website that the Senegalese computer scientist Moctar Cissé created in Dakar to allow penitentiaries in the country to sell art objects, handcrafted products and household furniture that they make in their cell. This e-commerce platform aims to solve the economic problems facing prisoners in the short term and in the long term allowing their reintegration into working life after they have served their sentence.
Launched on January 1, 2016, it already offers buyers works of painting whose prices vary between 35,000 and 80,000 CFA francs. The site even grants discounts on various items sold. Moctar Cisse, himself the son of a prison guard, created the platform in collaboration with local groups, the Senegalese prison administration and prisoners.
Note that the Yes WeSell project has already won an award. He received the Jury’s Favorite Award in the final of the International Institute for Water and Environmental Engineering.
