The Senegalese telecommunications company, in partnership with the Orange network, launched the Orange Fab Senegal accelerator. This accelerator, launched during the month of April, will provide technical and financial assistance to Senegalese start-ups offering innovative products or services.
Originally, Orange Fab was a project of the Orange network which aims to support innovation in several countries. The Senegalese station for the project benefited from the support of Sonatel, which also wanted to create a project encouraging start-ups in the country. Senegal then became the 16th country hosting an Orange Fab in the world, the second on the African continent. The first “acceleration” season of Orange Fab Senegal will run from April to October 2016. Two start-ups will be chosen to benefit each from a financial support of 5 million FCFA. They will have access to “high-quality logistical resources and above all, support capable of accelerating their activity by launching their service in partnership with Orange”.
