Africa finally has its “.africa” domain name

Good news for the African internet world. ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), the Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers has just announced that it will begin the process of delegating the generic high-level domain dotAfrica (.africa) to the South African organization, ZA Central Registry (ZACR) on behalf of the African Union.
In a few weeks, African people and organizations will be able to buy their domain name with the extension (.africa).

Since .com is almost saturated, now is a good time to go for .africa whether you are targeting Africa as an immediate or long-term target. Africa is currently the second most populous continent in the world after Asia with 1.216 billion people.

Until now Africa had not had its own domain name because of a war between ZA Central Registry a South African company and DotConnectAfrica of Mauritius, each wanting to have the privilege of selling .africa to individuals. But the California Supreme Court has just handed down its verdict and has finally put the domain name in ZACR’s hands.

CEO AfrikaTech

Rejoignez-nous ! LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/boubacardiallo
