The Nigerian designer Saydna Ali known as “Alphadi” had already mentioned this project last May, on the sidelines of the 52nd annual meetings of the African Development Bank (Bad).
During an audience granted to him by President Mahamadou Issoufou on August 11, Alphadi said the interview focused on his desire to create the first fashion and arts university in Niger. For him, this university will be dedicated to creation, jewelry, tannery and crafts.
The Nigerian designer, ambassador and artist of peace for Unesco has been organizing the International Festival of African Fashion for 20 years.
At the Bad’s annual meetings in Ahmedabad (India) last May, the designer hinted that a fashion industry could be more job-creating than uranium.
