(Agence Ecofin) – Kenyans, South Africans and Ghanaians dominate the ranking of the 30 most promising young African entrepreneurs in 2016 published by the American magazine Forbes. Kenya places six entrepreneurs in this ranking, which lists business angels under the age of thirty who have had remarkable successes in various fields of activity. These include Joel Macharia (photo), the founder of the financial services company Abacus, and Alex Muriu, founder of Farm Capital Africa, an investment company specializing in agriculture.

South Africa and Ghana each have five representatives in this ranking (see full list below).

Overall, English-speaking Africa is much better represented in this ranking than French-speaking Africa, and the majority of the most promising young entrepreneurs operate in the sectors of financial services, information and communication technologies, goods consumption and agriculture.

6-Sulley Amin Abubakar, Ghana: founder Zaacoal, (charcoal production from coconut shells)

7-William Elong, Cameroon: founder of Will & Brothers (economic intelligence and technological innovation)

8-Michael Muthiga, Kenya: Fatboy Animations (multimedia and cartoon content)

9-Edwin Bruno Shayo, Tanzania: founder of Smart Codes (advertising and marketing)

10- Fatoumata Ba, Senegal: founder of the Jumia online business platform

11- Barclay Okari, Kenya: founder of Impact Africa Industries (intimate feminine hygiene)

12-Mark Doumba, Gabon: co-founder of Clikafrik Group (investment company specializing in support for SMEs)

13-Obinwanne Okeke, Nigeria: founder of Invictus Group (agriculture, telecoms and hydrocarbon real estate)

14-Siya Beyile, South Africa: founder of The Threaded Man (men’s fashion)

15-David Asiamah, Ghana: founder of Agro Mindset (poultry farming and poultry feed production)

16-Vital Sounouvou, Benin: founder of Opportunity (platform specializing in the promotion of African exports)

17- Inga Gubeka, South Africa: founder of Indalo Décor (Fashion accessories)

18- Prince Boadu, Ghana: founder of MapTech Logistics (logistics and supply chain management)

19- Uneku Atawodi, Nigeria: founder of the investment company Bamboo Green Concepts and the crowdfunding platform Malaik.
