(MTN CI) – This Thursday, April 20, 2017, MTN COTE D’IVOIRE, is taking a further step in financial services by launching its new subsidiary MTN MOBILE FINANCIAL SERVICES COTE D’IVOIRE.

This new subsidiary has obtained from the Central Bank of West Africa (BCEAO) its approval as an Institution Issuing Electronic Money under the identifier EME.CI.009 / 2016.

With this status, MTN MFS CI, an independent company incorporated as a Société Anonyme (SA), is now the guarantor of the issuance, management and distribution of MTN Mobile Money’s electronic money. She is also responsible for the compliance policy as well as the general monitoring of the electronic money issuance activity.

MTN MFS CI will provide more choice and flexibility in the context of the launch of new services and functionalities, and this, in line with the Regional Strategy for Financial Inclusion advocated by the Central Bank of West Africa ( BCEAO).

This is a key step for MTN Côte d’Ivoire in the development and structuring evolution of innovative mobile financial services.

The representative of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Mr. Fadika, for his part expressed the wish to see MTN MFS CI expand the range of services offered, thus increasing inclusion for populations and specifically financially more modest and to increase the efficiency of the financial sector….

MTN MFS CI’s head office is located on Boulevard Latrille opposite the ENA.

With a network of more than 15,000 distribution points, MTN MFS CI has 4 million MTN Mobile Money customers. In 2016, approximately 1,566 billion FCFA of transactions were carried out via MTN Mobile Money.
