I am a 41-year-old Senegalese telecoms engineer passionate about technological innovation, especially when it comes to improving the well-being of the most vulnerable populations.

Your beginnings in entrepreneurship:

I started out in entrepreneurship as a student at UCAD when I placed food products in university restaurants but it was quite informal.

Then, when I started working for a telecom operator, I also started a broiler operation. We were 3 and it was very flourishing but one fine day I decided to stop because of one of the associates who did not want to get involved and was limited to harvesting the fruits.

From 2011 I started formalizing with an LLC which makes IT solutions and since then I have not stopped …

Why did you go into entrepreneurship?

First of all, it is the desire to be useful to society and to give back to it what it has given us that pushes us to undertake, especially when we already have a well-paid and stable job.

Then comes the desire to take on challenges … When you start, you can’t stop. And personally, any problem I encounter is for me a source of reflection and the start of new ideas

What were the difficulties encountered?

It is said that the main difficulty of startups is financing and indeed it is a big obstacle to starting.

What instructions would you give to new entrepreneurs who are hesitant to get started?

Those who hesitate are rightly held back by the challenge of funding, but when you don’t look ridiculous when you are young, you are not going to do it when you are 50 years old. When you’re in your thirties, you can invest your savings, go bankrupt and get up; at 50, it’s less obvious….

So go for it !!!!

And above all keep in mind that it is the value of the idea that brings the funding and not the opposite …

A final word

I don’t know if I’m in a good position to give advice, but the advice I’ll give to young entrepreneurs is to learn how to structure their idea first. Know exactly what you want to do, why, how, with what means and according to what schedule and take environmental factors into account.

When your project is well structured, everyone listens to you…

CEO AfrikaTech

Rejoignez-nous ! LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/boubacardiallo
