The project for the artisanal manufacture of pavers from recycled plastic waste was launched this Monday, June 29, 2015 in Yaoundé by the itinerant Ambassador. Its ultimate goal is to provide employment for disadvantaged young people in fifty municipalities across the country.
Roger Milla, through his foundation Solidarité Coeur d ’Afrique Roger Milla from Cameroon, and in partnership with the GIC economic and social development of Cameroon, has just launched in Yaoundé a vast project of artisanal manufacture of paving stones, nozzles and slabs. Thirty young people are currently undergoing two-month training after which they too will have gone to train other young people in the various communes of Cameroon.
That day on the pilot learning site located at a local municipal road, in the heart of Yaoundé, Roger Milla went to touch the first achievements. “The technology is given to everyone, you just have to be willing to support the country in everything it is putting in place to help young people,” he said.
The work of the thirty young people present consists of using used objects made from plastic. Once collected, the material is heated to obtain liquid. The liquid obtained is then mixed with sand, then placed in the mold which emerges either the paving stone or the slab. About thirty minutes later, the paver is ready for use. According to specialists, the pavers thus obtained have many advantages: they are waterproof, less expensive and twice as resistant as those made of cement.
Once seasoned, these 30 learners will train young people in 50 communes in Cameroon with the aim of creating 2,500 jobs. “If it can allow these children to live, it’s a good thing. We are happy because all the ministries concerned have joined, ”said Albert Roger Milla.
Created on December 9, 2005, the Solidarity Heart of Africa Roger Milla foundation aims to promote the integration of former sportspeople, former personalities and celebrities into the life of the city. It also educates young people, adolescents and adults about the practice of sport and cultural activities. It helps poor people in general and old glories in precarious situations in particular. They support and help the poor. The present project is in line with this objective.
