Awarded by the University of Berkeley in 2013, the invention of a young African engineer now needs funds to enter its operational phase. From April 12 to May 21, Faso Soap calls on the generosity of everyone on the Ulule site to speed up the creation of its mosquito repellent and thus protect the most vulnerable in Africa from malaria on a daily basis. All philanthropists to develop a idea that all the experts agree to find very promising! The social start-up Faso Soap, based in Burkina Faso, offers the general public to help them finance the production of a new weapon against malaria: an effective mosquito repellent soap at least six hours after use. The first research work was awarded worldwide in 2013 by the Global Social Venture Competition at the University of Berkeley (United States).
The aim today is to speed up research and finalize the most effective soap against mosquitoes carrying malaria. “With the sums collected
on the Ulule site, explains Gérard Niyondiko, engineer and founder of Faso Soap, we will be able to carry out research on the soap prototypes already developed by the team. The 30,000 euros posted would make it possible to finance tests of the effectiveness of soaps in the laboratory. With 60,000 euros, we could validate the impact of the use of soap in real conditions. 100,000 euros would allow us to create our own laboratory and prepare for production. ”
This online collection will take place on the Ulule site from April 12 to May 21. It also marks the start of the “100,000 Lives” campaign. This campaign, initiated and piloted by Faso Soap, aims to save 100,000 people from malaria by the end of 2018, by putting this repellant soap in the hands of the most vulnerable in Africa. Faso Soap is working to propose a new method of prevention against malaria, integrated into the daily lives of populations. There is an emergency: malaria kills a child every two minutes.
