Burkina Faso will soon embark on the development of its new national digital economy policy. To achieve this, the Ministry of Development of the digital economy and the Post, during a workshop organized on June 07, 2016, in Ouagadougou first examined the state of the sector, through the report of study carried out at IDATE. This document, funded by the World Bank, shows that Burkina Faso has major shortcomings in terms of infrastructure development, access to information and communication technology services, telephony and communication. insufficient connection.

To remedy this situation and allow the country to reach its goal of developing the digital economy, the new policy that IDATE will present to the government will include a planning framework for major challenges in the sector. This frame of reference will have three components: the national digital development policy which will give Burkina Faso’s vision for the 2016-2025 period; the sectoral digital development policy which will identify the actions to be undertaken by the ministry over the period 2016-2020 and the strategy for the development of access to universal service from 2016-2020.

According to the secretary general of the Ministry of Development of the digital economy and the Post Office, Casimir Kaboré, the new national policy of the digital economy will make it possible, not only to identify the projects to be implemented concretely on the ground for to resolve questions of access to the Internet and telephony, to assess the financial cost of building these infrastructures, but also to have visibility on the major projects to be implemented until the period 2025.

Rejoignez-nous ! LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/boubacardiallo
