The American online payment company, Paypal is determined to conquer more market share in Africa. To this end, it plans to partner with new Mobile Money operators to offer its services to their subscribers and stimulate the adoption of its payment service by facilitating online purchases.

According to Efi Dahan (pictured), Paypal’s general manager for Russia, the Middle East and Africa, the company is looking for mobile money oriented partners to reach more unbanked communities around the continent. In the past, Paypal reports that Xoom, its digital money transfer unit, has partnered with African mobile money service providers as part of the group’s efforts to conquer new remittance markets. Still by this same solution, the company wants to gain a lot of new users.

In terms of driving mass adoption of its online shopping payment service in Africa, PayPal has decided to cover the cost of shipping the purchased goods. Often expensive fees for users. “Once we removed that barrier, we saw an increase in purchases in the United States, because once we have no problem with shipping, it’s good for the trader and for us. Large fashion retailers offer this type of service globally, so we want to emulate what the best do, “said Efi Dahan.

Paypal indicates that it will cover the shipping costs of a user up to 12 times a year.

CEO AfrikaTech

Rejoignez-nous ! LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/boubacardiallo
