Visa, a company specializing in electronic payment systems, announced on February 13, 2019, the launch of its accelerated financial technology support program – FinTech in Africa. This investment is in line with its ambition to develop the next generation of digital payment solutions on the continent.
This program will offer innovative Fintechs in Africa a faster and simpler integration process with VisaNet, Visa’s global network, as well as a suite of bespoke digital solutions and growth capabilities. The program will also connect the Fintechs to platforms already certified by Visa and connect them to the sponsoring banks, offering them expansion opportunities via Visa’s global network. The launch of this program in Africa comes after its successful completion in Europe, Latin America and Asia-Pacific in the second half of 2018.
According to Andrew Torre, regional president of Visa for Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEMEA), the “objective is to connect new players and ideas with our network partners, so that we can offer intuitive and relevant payment experiences and banking experiences to customers and merchants. ”
