The Minister of Trade, small and medium-sized enterprises, crafts, tourism and service development, Madeleine Berre, was yesterday the guest of Radio Gabon, on the occasion of the 6 years of the mandate of Ali Bongo Ondimba .

Madeleine Berre recalled that, since 2009, President Ali Bongo Ondimba and the government have made every effort to offer a primordial place to Gabonese Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), the challenge being to identify and recognize it. The number of SMEs is currently estimated at 12,000 entities, with an average growth rate of 5% since 2010.

The Minister acknowledged that much progress remained to be made and that it was necessary in particular to restore confidence between economic operators and the administration. To go faster, Madeleine Berre wishes to support companies in all their efforts, to help them grow serenely. “They must be allowed to absorb the national public order, but also to impose themselves internationally,” added the minister.

Madeleine Berre acknowledged that the question of financing remains a very important problem for many companies, recalling that we only lend to companies with a viable and profitable project over several years. The Minister announced on this point to have set up a targeted reflection with her services: the solution goes through the pooling of public and private funding, in order to reduce risks.

The Minister of Trade and SMEs then addressed the questions of parafiscality and the legal framework. The member of the government wishes above all to restore confidence concerning the parafiscality, true objective of performance of his administration. She also said that the administration would define new, more precise frameworks, notably for the merchant card, which should not exceed a certain cost.
