Economic conditions in Morocco

According to data from the International Trade Monitor: “In recent years, the Moroccan economy has been characterized by macroeconomic stability coupled with low inflation. In 2015, Morocco benefited from dynamic economic growth (4.9%), up from 2014. This result is explained by a satisfactory agricultural campaign. However, the forecasts for 2016 are much less optimistic, GDP growth forecast: 3.7% in 2016. The economy will however continue to be supported by manufacturing activity and services. The Moroccan economy is solid, based on exports, the boom in private investment and tourism (10% of GDP) … Morocco is deploying an economic development strategy in sub-Saharan Africa. In 2014, the king signed numerous economic agreements in West Africa. In addition, Morocco will organize COP22 in 2016. The Sharifian kingdom intends to use 40% renewable energy by 2020. In February 2016, Morocco inaugurated the Noor solar power plant, which will ultimately be the largest in the world . To cope with the bad 2016 crop year, the government will support agriculture with EUR 417 million. Oil and gas exploration has also been revived and Morocco has also launched an industrial strategy for 2014-2020 to attract foreign companies and fight unemployment. Morocco highlights low local wages and the creation of a EUR 1.8 billion fund for businesses setting up in the country ”

CEO AfrikaTech
