(Ecofin Agency) – Angola will launch its first Angosat1 satellite in the third quarter of this year. This is what the Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology José Carvalho da Rocha revealed.
According to the manager, the satellite and the center which will be dedicated to its control are already ready. “The 45 technicians who will be in charge of decoding Angosat1 signals are currently being trained. The control center will be based in the municipality of Caruaco, ”Mr. da Rocha also told Portalangop.
The launch of this satellite, which will have a lifespan of 15 years, will allow Angola to substitute it for other regional satellites for the acquisition of bandwidth and to pay for this service in local currency. This satellite was acquired from a Russian consortium including RSC Energia, Telecom-Projecto 5 and Rosoboronexport.
