1. Cheikh Anta Diop University (Senegal)

Founded in 1918, Université Cheikh Anta Diop (Université Cheikh Anta Diop) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the city of Dakar. Officially recognized by the Senegalese Ministry of National Education, the Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD) is a very large higher education institution (nearly 60,000 students). UCAD hosts a number of exchange programs, including with Wells College, Indiana University and University of Oregon in the United States, and many European universities.
UCAD has a diverse student body from many countries including Senegal, Chad, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, France, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, United States, Mauritania, Mali, Morocco, Rwanda, Cameroon, Belgium and the United Kingdom.
2. Mohammed V University (Morocco)

Founded in 1957, Mohammed V University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the city of Rabat. Officially recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Management Training, Mohammed V University (UM5A) welcomes nearly 25,000 students).
Chinese company Huawei and Mohammed V University in Rabat signed a memorandum of understanding in early April to modernize the University with the latest scientific research tools and platforms. Huawei offers skills development internship opportunities to 80 engineering students in Morocco and China every year.
3. Abou Bekr Belkaid Tlemcen University (Algeria)

Founded in 1974, Abou Bekr Belkaid Tlemcen University is a public higher education institution located in Tlemcen. Officially accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Algeria, Abou Bekr Belkaid Tlemcen University (UABT) has a large student population (nearly 45,000 students). The University of Tlemcen is also the 75th best university in the Arab world. When it was founded, this institution offered only applied science degrees (Chemistry, Biology, etc.). Today the list of training has extended to various sectors, but the Chemistry program remains one of the most notable.
4. University of the Mentouri Brothers of Constantine 1 (Algeria)
Established in 1969, the University of the Mentouri Brothers of Constantine 1 is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the small town of Constantine.
5. Houari Boumediène University of Science and Technology (Algeria)
Created in 1974, the Houari Boumediene University of Science and Technology (Houari Boumediene University of Science and Technology) is a private higher education institution located in the city of Algiers
The UniRank ™ ranking allowed us to discover some universities in French-speaking Africa and their history. However, South Africa is well in the lead, scooping the top five places in the top 200. Anglophone institutions have nothing to envy to those in Francophone Africa for the moment. Indeed, if Cheikh Anta Diop University is at the top of our top 5, it is sadly only 24th on the continental scale.
