The Seedstars Summit is the final step in Seedstars World, the largest international competition for startups from emerging countries. Each year for six years, Seedstars teams have been traveling over 80 countries for 9 months, looking for the most promising young companies in their region. This year, 50 start-ups from Africa, Latin America, Asia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East will have won their place in the international final where they will compete for the title of Seedstars Global Winner and an investment of up to $ 500,000, as well as other prizes offered by partners of the Seedstars Summit.

Seedstars also unveils its new theme for the year 2020: BEYOND, and sets itself the goal of pushing the technological, geographic, structural, cultural and ideological limits in order to galvanize these entrepreneurial ecosystems and support these daring business creators who are at the heart of the Seedstars mission. By bringing together more than 1,500 participants at the Swisstech Convention Center, the event aims to be a real catalyst for lasting change in emerging markets. Indeed, the Seedstars Summit is a real emulator of business and investment opportunities, and will bring together for this purpose its network of startups, investors, mentors, ambassadors, partners and key stakeholders.

The Seedstars Summit will also be an opportunity to highlight and strengthen the group’s initiatives launched over the past year. In 2019, various initiatives bringing structural aid to all the above-mentioned ecosystems were launched. Among them, Seedstars Africa Ventures, the investment fund for sub-Saharan Africa with a target size of $ 100 million, which will make it possible to carry out minority investments in the seed phase ranging from $ 250,000 to $ 5 million, across different sectors and countries. In parallel, the group launched its “Investment Readiness Program” (IRP), a tailor-made five-module training program aimed at reviewing the basics of the traditional accelerator model. The IRP aims to improve the performance of startups in the start-up phase and prepare them to secure investments. Registration is open from January 2020 on the irp.seedstars.com website. The Seedstars group’s desire to highlight exceptional stories from entrepreneurs also came to life with the web episodes of Seedstars TV and its very first documentary Seedstars.

“The past year has been an impressive and exciting one for the Seedstars group. As we prepare to push these promising entrepreneurs to the forefront of the tech and innovation scene in Switzerland, we are eager to create more networking, investment and partnership opportunities. We’ve really tried to redefine the impact Seedstars could have on these ecosystems and our new theme, “Beyond”, sums up everything we aspire to. We really go beyond expectations by trying to remove all possible limitations, whether gender-based or financial, so that they can reach their full potential and impact millions of lives in emerging marketsSays Alisée de Tonnac, Founder and Partner at seedsrars.

The Summit will last four days with: – 48 hours of intensive private Bootcamp. Startups will learn both theoretical and practical aspects of various growth models and acquisition channels, thanks to the expertise of the Seedstars investment team and its partners. – The following day, April 2, the Investor Forum will offer the possibility of individual meetings between investors, mentors and entrepreneurs from around the world. – On April 3, the main day of the conference, networking sessions and thematic workshops will be organized in the morning, followed in the afternoon by the pitches of finalist startups, interventions by experienced entrepreneurs and Seedstars alumni, and finally price discounts. In closing, the jury will announce the Seedstars Global Winner among the 50 participating startups, in front of a thousand participants. A cocktail will then crown the festivities to allow everyone to meet one last time to exchange and celebrate entrepreneurship and close this 2020 edition.

CEO AfrikaTech
