The Africab start-up wants to develop its VTC service, today in Abidjan, and tomorrow in Dakar and Yaoundé. It offers individuals to invest in its fleet of cars, in exchange for a monthly annuity.

Vangsy Goma, the young (31) boss of Africab, is on all fronts. Ten months after launching, last February, a transport vehicle service with driver (VTC) in Abidjan, taking with him in the adventure some friends associated with the capital of his company, the manager is not only working on the operational development of the company. short-term business in the Ivorian capital, but still in its longer-term future.

Guarantee of an annuity

The launch last week of an investment offer for individuals is the first imperative. Because with around sixty cars (Peugeot 508 and 301, Toyota Yari and Avanza) in its fleet and around 30 on order, Africab is unable to meet customer demand for rapid availability of a vehicle. The “Africab Invest” solution therefore offers individuals the possibility of investing in Peugeot 301s distributed by CFAO Motors, with the guarantee of a monthly annuity of 450,000 CFA francs (685 euros) for a return on investment in 18 months, the car costing 8.1 million FCFA. From the launch of the offer, around ten orders were recorded. “Our goal is to increase the number of our vehicles to 300 by July 2017 for the Games of La Francophonie,” said Vangsy Goma. Added to the opening of a franchise in Cotonou next year, and subsidiaries in Dakar and Yaoundé, these initiatives are prompting the founder of Africab to resize his business.

Round table to come

If he is not in need of networks – his maternal grandmother is none other than the First Lady of Congo -, Vangsy Goma is working on setting up a new round of funding for his holding, Africab Group, based in the Mauritius, with strategic partners, professionals in urban transport, automotive and finance. He hopes to complete the operation in the first half of 2017. In eleven months, Africab has 40,300 different customers, 150 corporate customers, and has made some 90,000 trips for a turnover of 450 million CFA francs.
