In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the company Flechtech Sarl presented to administrative authorities last July the very first tablets and Smartphones designed in the country. Called Motema, these devices have pockets with integrated solar panels.
Dieudonné Kayembe, director of the company and figurehead of the digital ecosystem in the country, indicates that it is in order to make advanced technology accessible in the DRC while solving in particular the problems related to the charging of digital devices that he started this project with his team.
Present at the ceremony, Daniel Madimba Kalonji, Minister of Scientific and Technological Research of the DRC promised to support product development by saying “I have the firm determination to create with you a new era, to boost the scientific research so that it can truly play its role as an engine of economic and social development in our country. ”
Motema smartphones and tablets were launched the following month in August and are generating a lot of public interest. Flechtech Sarl recently has a series of mobile applications that are designed to solve educational, linguistic and cultural problems.
