Buy a sheep on the internet from France to have it delivered to Africa. This is what the telephone operator Lebara and the e-commerce company Afrimarket are offering throughout the month of August during the Tabaski.

In a statement released on Monday, August 7, the telephone operator Lebara and the e-commerce group Afrimarket announced the launch of a new offer aimed at Muslim communities in Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal and Mali. Called Tabaski (Eid-el-Kebir in Wolof), this partnership allows Ivorian, Senegalese and Malian diasporas residing in France to buy and have a sheep delivered to their families in Africa.

Lebara, a telephone operator specializing in international communications with 100,000 subscribers from West Africa, offers its customers the opportunity to buy a sheep at a reduced price, via its 10,000 points of sale in France. , or on the internet. Delivery is then handled by Afrimarket, which has a logistics network to remote villages in the three countries.

“The African diasporas are looking for solutions to celebrate Tabaski in communion with their families left behind, since they cannot physically return to the country each year, especially since it is one of the most of the year for the Muslim community, ”said Rania Belkahia, co-founder of Afrimarket, in the press release.

Maintain the link with the country of origin
“This partnership with Afrimarket allows us to realize the commitment dear to Lebara, which is to allow diasporas to maintain a link with their country of origin. The Senegalese, Ivorian and Malian diasporas number more than one million individuals in France (excluding naturalization and second generation). And according to the African Development Bank (AfDB), remittances to Africa exceed $ 40 billion per year.

The Afrimarket “cash to goods” service, created in February 2013, allows the diaspora to pay current expenses directly from France to partners in Africa.
