Lambda School, an American training designer has just opened its Lambda School Africa 2019 program for young African developers. The concept is a set of online courses in full-time software development, lasting 9 months, with no initial cost.
For this pilot phase, only students from Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa are involved. They must be at least 18 years of age, permanent resident on the continent and free on a full-time basis for the duration of the program. The deadline for applications is 26 May 2019.
Lambda School Africa 2019 was set up with the collaboration of the Nigerian Paystack online payment startup, which provides a workspace to ensure participants access to a reliable source of electricity and a reliable internet connection.
The program, designed and taught by instructors from Google, Apple, Blizzard and many other technology companies, aims to teach participants how to program in multiple languages (including JavaScript, Python and C) and to understand computing from the fundamentals.
In addition, it offers instant assistance to participants who at the end of the training can be hired by Paystack or another Nigerian company.
