The Benin team won this Thursday the 1st price of the 2nd edition of the “Global Innovation Through Science and Technology“ (GIST), “Startup Boot Camp” of Dakar which had brought together 28 projects from different countries of French-speaking Africa .
The Beninese team presented the Tuniar project which is a money transfer platform which has won over the public. The young entrepreneurs received a check for 2,000 US dollars.e
The second prize went to the Ivorian team, whose project concerns an online training and course solution for students and parents, called “Souclou-online”.
The Rwandan team took third place with their solar mobile charger project called “Starlight”.
Two Senegalese teams could be selected from the six finalists. They respectively presented a platform for the sale of fishery products (Aywajieune) and a mobile application (Sen-pharma), which aims to better manage the stocks of drugs in pharmacies, reports the Aps website.
The event was chaired by the first counselor of the Embassy of the United States in Senegal Sandra Clark who magnified the scientific and technological innovation of young entrepreneurs
“When young innovators have the skills and the support, they are more likely to turn their ideas into start-ups and then into successful businesses,” she said.
This competition “aims to identify and support young entrepreneurs in the field of science and technology, thus fulfilling the dream of creating a successful startup through the development of networking skills and financial advice, ” explained Ms. Clark.
