Women in Africa: International platform dedicated to African talents, launches the 4th edition of the WIA 54 Program

For the 4th consecutive year, African women entrepreneurs can apply for the WIA 54 program. Launched by the Women in Africa initiative, through its endowment fund WIA Philanthropy and thanks to the support of its patrons Société Générale, Roland Berger, Honoris United Universities , Gfi Informatique, Stop Hunger, DS Avocats and the Total Foundation, WIA 54 is the essential pan-African program to support and promote female entrepreneurship on the African continent. With the highest rate of women entrepreneurs in the world (24% 1), the African continent has made entrepreneurship the main factor of emancipation. Launched in 2017, the WIA 54 program aims to encourage female entrepreneurship in Africa to support this dynamic.

The selection campaign started on January 9, 2020 and will close on February 9, 2020. For one month, all African women who disrupt the continent’s future thanks to technological innovations are invited to submit their Pan-African business plan project to the Initiative, through the WIA website: https://wia-2020.selecteev.io/apply Following the receipt of applications, 54 start-ups will be pre-selected on file in 54 African countries by Roland teams Berger, who for the past 4 years has identified more than 850 sources across the continent (incubators, innovation centers, institutions, etc.) in order to carry out the selection of WIA 54. 2 specific criteria such as the social impact rate of the technologies, products and services offered, the scalability of the business model and their growth potential, female patronage or the ability to execute teams. In April 2020, a renowned international jury will meet to select the 54 winners from the shortlisted entrepreneurs. The winning start-ups will be invited to the WIA Annual Summit which will take place in Marrakech in June 2020. They will join the WIA Link digital platform to gain access to the network of more than 2,000 members developed worldwide. Encouraged and supported by the WIA initiative, they will benefit from influence on the continent and internationally, substantial networking with leaders and investors, training in one of the training establishments of the Honoris group, budgets for promoting their business offered by Facebook and visibility on Youtube. The winners will be invited by WIA to a 2-day entrepreneurship bootcamp that will allow them to strengthen their projects.
