The training program of the Initiative for Young African Leaders (YALI) ended Wednesday August 03, 2016 in Washington DC At the closing ceremony, the President of the United States, Barack Obama spoke with the young African leaders .

1,000 young people from all over Africa participated in an accelerated training program in 36 states and 40 renowned universities in the United States. These young African leaders have been trained in three areas: civic leadership, entrepreneurship and public management. At the end of these trainings aimed at transmitting the necessary knowledge to young Africans so that they can actively contribute to the development of Africa, the participants in the YALI 2016 program took part in an exchange with President Barack Obama, initiator of This program.

During this exchange of more than an hour, Barack Obama made a point of recalling that the African youth is an essential pillar for the development of Africa. This continent offers many opportunities and changes are made there. “I see a continent in motion. You have one of the fastest growing regions in the world. You are connected by technology. Africa is sending more and more children to school, more and more lives are being saved from AIDS or infant mortality. There is still work to solve these problems, but today Africa is a continent of prosperity and opportunity, “he said.
This initiative is one of the most important in Barack Obama’s second term, said Terence McCulley, Ambassador of the United States to Côte d’Ivoire, during the inauguration last July of the Andrew Young Center for the Promotion of the entrepreneurship. The YALI program enables young Africans to benefit from the experience of the United States and find solutions to the problems of their communities.
Among the 1,000 young people selected for the 2016 edition, 12 young Ivorians were part of the lot.

Rejoignez-nous ! LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/boubacardiallo
