Telecom supplier Alcatel-Lucent will provide Burkina Faso with a Cloud network that will allow it to develop new digital public services.
The virtual infrastructure that will meet future demands for digital services in health, education, justice, etc., will be deployed in Ouagadougou, the capital, and in five provinces of the country. Nearly 400 buildings in 13 regional urban centers will then be connected via 513 km of fiber optics.
This project, which is due to start in 2017, is the result of an agreement between the Ministry of Development of the Digital Economy and the Post Office (MDENP) and Alcatel-Lucent. Its implementation is the result of funding from the Danish government through the Danida Business Finance Agency which will contribute up to 30 million euros (19.9 billion FCFA) with a direct grant of 15.5 million euros (10 billion FCFA).
