The actors of the digital sector in Côte d’Ivoire, contributes to the development of this sector thanks to an endogenous liveliness; which convinced the authorities to lay the foundations for a digital economy, a source of inclusive growth. Today, the Côte d’Ivoire market represents one of the most attractive markets in West Africa for companies in the field of New Information and Communication Technologies (NICT).

Actors in the digital sector in Côte d’Ivoire
Those are :

  • Mobile and landline operators;
  • Internet Service Providers;
  • Application Developers and Suppliers of various IT solutions;
  • Integrators of digital solutions;

  • Users of ICT services.

Mobile and landline operators

There are several, the main ones are:

  • Fixed telephony: Ivory Coast Telecom, VOIP CI, Plural Business, Espace Moov, DNS Services.

Internet Service Providers (ISPs)
According to an investigation carried out in 10 cities, including Abidjan and Yamoussoukro, an investigation carried out by Côte d´Ivoire News (Info magazine), it emerges that 5 internet service providers are at the top of the ranking:

MTN Ivory Coast: with mobile connection and / or connection over WiFi, this ISP makes all the difference by its urban WiMax network technology in addition to its network coverage over a large part of the national territory.

Orange Côte d’Ivoire: For the 3G mobile network as for urban WiFi, this ISP is less stable than the first in certain connection areas in Abidjan and in the interior of the country, but its network coverage over a very large part of national territory even in remote villages makes all the difference.

Moov Ivory Coast: Considered as the youth network, this ISP gives young people a slightly more stable mobile connection and a slightly less stable WiFi connection than the other two mentioned above. It thus ranks 3rd in 3G network coverage throughout the national territory.

 VIP NET (Africa Technologies & Services): this is one of the oldest classic ISPs based in Abidjan, generally in the upscale Cocody and business districts. More stable in the municipality of Cocody, its urban WiFi connection is satisfactory, but its network coverage is limited in certain areas of the economic capital.

Yoomee Ivory Coast: this is the last ISP in Abidjan with 3.9G very close to 4G networks to the point of being marketed as a 4G technology with an interesting bandwidth. With a more or less stable urban mobile and WiFi connection, depending on the zone and the location of the router, this ISP occupies the 5th place due to the restriction of its coverage in certain zone of Abidjan.

About The Author

CEO AfrikaTech

Rejoignez-nous ! LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/boubacardiallo
