Media start-up OMG Digital has announced that it has secured US $ 1.1 million seed funding from several international investors. To carry out this financial transaction, the company founded by Jesse Arhin Ghansah, Prince Boakye Boampong and Dominic Mensah, benefited from the support of Y Combinator, the American company which provides start-ups with seed capital, advice and puts them in touch with potential investors.

With this sum, OMG Digital, which produces content from Ghanaian, Kenyan and Nigerian pop culture, plans to expand to the continent by establishing offices in Accra, Lagos and Nairobi; to develop its advertising and marketing operations.

Since the launch of its platform in February 2016, the various videos published by the start-up have already registered more than 90 million monthly views. The site has already won the loyalty of 4.5 million monthly readers.

Today, the company, which wants to grow more subscribers, is eyeing the markets of Tanzania, South Africa, Uganda and Zambia.

Its success, says Jesse Arhin Ghansah, one of the co-founders of OMG Digital, stems from the fact that “we don’t just create seamless African content. We are developing specific content strategies to produce locally relevant material for Africa’s diverse audiences (…) Not only have we succeeded in creating one of the largest audiences in Africa, but we’ve also been successful in attracting some of the biggest consumer brands on the continent and around the world ”.

CEO AfrikaTech

Rejoignez-nous ! LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/boubacardiallo
