The startup kobiri, co-founded by Mohamed Aly Sidibé, a master student in Software Engineering and Information Systems at the Computer Science Department (DGI) of ESP, was awarded this Sunday, February 17, 2019, as part of the first edition “Fintech Challenge” of the Open Innovation Program of the Central People’s Bank of Morocco (BCP).

This distinction is a consecration for this Senegalese start up launched just four months ago and which is already starting to make a good place in the world of FinTech African and international. Since its creation in October 2018, it continues to grow in strength and now has more than 1100 downloads and 750 active users per month.

Kobiri, which means Soussou language money, is a mobile application that makes it easy to manage a mobile money account. She was selected among the 6 young companies on the basis of the best potential of digital innovation of the banking sector that she presented before the jury during the final.

These 6 start-ups, offering solutions in the areas of mobile wallet, digital marketing, financial inclusion, process digitization, and connected objects, become de facto partners of the BCP group and will see their solutions. deployed within the Bank and its subsidiaries, according to the organizers.

As a reminder, it was last November that the BCP group launched the first edition of its “Fintech Challenge”, aimed at identifying the most promising start-ups with a view to co-constructing and deploying innovative solutions in response to challenges. key business issues.

The call for applications closed on December 23, 2018 was a hit with startups in Africa and elsewhere, with more than 1,200 expressions of interest received from 34 countries. At the end of this selection, some twenty start-up finalists from 11 different countries were invited to participate in the Bootcamp of Bouznika, a Moroccan seaside town.
