Ethiopian airlines sold one of its planes, a Boeing 737, to Guttama Gutta, a businessman, who transformed it into a hotel complex with a restaurant.
The aircraft retains its appearance but the interior has been reorganized, giving restaurant patrons the feeling of being in flight.
“I invested nearly 30 million birr (1.27 million euros) in the purchase, refurbishment and decoration of the aircraft. It is currently rented in the locality of Burayu, 15 km east of the capital, “said the owner of the new plane-hotel Guttama Gutta to the Allafrica news site.
Guttama Gutta’s investment stems from his desire to create a new type of leisure center in Burayu. Construction and commissioning of the hotel attraction took two years.
