The Pan-African Bank of Women Entrepreneurs of Africa and the Diaspora will install its headquarters in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), in the coming days, announced the president of the Association “Africa Femmes Performantes ”, Patricia Sceke, on the occasion of the Week of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SME) Savings Cooperatives, which takes place from 2 to 8 July in Kinshasa.
The project of such a banking institution specific to African women, she said, had been decided during the 5th congress of this women’s organization held in 2012 in Morocco, on the proposal of King Mohammed VI who had presided over the opening of these seats.
For the influential president of the Association “Africa Femmes Performantes”, Patricia Secke, resident in the USA and a graduate of the group (ISEG) European Superior Institute of Management in Paris, the challenge now consists in successfully integrating a banking sector which evolves far from militancy and the framework of cooperatives.
The original approach to setting up the new bank’s new funds is both a strength and a weakness in the opinion of observers, because for the moment, this project operates in the form of a cooperative called “Savings cooperative, of credit and investment for women in Africa and the diaspora ”(COOPEC-IFAD).
The start-up funds for the new Pan-African bank will be made up of the proceeds from the sale of a beauty product called “Beautiful high-performance woman”, placed on the African market by this Association of women entrepreneurs, and credit from COOPEC. -IFAD.
