Ten innovations were selected, out of a total of around 500 start-ups that had proposed their
application for the Digital Africa competition, initiated by AFD and Bpifrance, the public investment bank. In Bamako, during the Africa-France Economic Forum, they were made public.
“Our desire is to provide all urban residents with access to running water at home. With his company CityTaps, Grégoire Landel and his associates have developed a water meter installed at customers’ premises, integrating mobile prepayment and connected. One form of solution to the many problems encountered in the field of access to water in urban areas in Africa: “There is a triple tax for Africans. A tax in time to get water from the standpipes; a cash tax because the water sold by merchants in the streets is much more expensive and a health tax because the water transported in cans is often contaminated “, explains the forty-something. According to him, CityTaps can both solve the problems
water management companies, by improving their business model thanks to the prepayment system, but also customers who can manage their water bill in advance.
Its nascent adventure – 20 prototypes of these meters have been installed in recent months in Niamey by Veolia – has been awarded along with nine other start-ups working in Africa by a jury of ’
around fifteen professionals, led by Karim Sy, the founder of Jokkolabs,
and Gilles Babinet, founder of Africa4Tech, an organization promoting innovation on the continent. About 500 young shoots had applied, according to the organizers of this Digital Africa competition. In Bamako, during the economic forum organized ahead of the Africa France summit, the ten award-winners were able to express themselves and present their innovations: E-Tumba, an advisory platform and

CEO AfrikaTech

Rejoignez-nous ! LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/boubacardiallo
