“The digitalisation of banking services in Africa allows to increase the rate of banking, to carry out various banking operations at a distance and at any time with confidence. This is what we can learn from Bouchra Geawhari, international consultant for the Moroccan Adria Business & Technology, visiting Cameroon.
In an interview given to the newspaper Economic Expression (edition of Tuesday, July 10, 2018, N ° 075) she spoke about the future of Cameroonian and African banks in the digital era, during the “Africa Banking Forum” which has just ended in Douala.
Bouchra Geawhari said that “the digital transformation is not a digitization of the bank, but rather the digitalization of its business, including the digitization of banking operations. Having the opportunity to carry out online banking transactions (transfer, money transfer, collection, disbursement, online credit, operations management such as cash management) etc. corresponds to digital banking. And that’s today’s demand. ”
She goes on to note that “the digitization of banks in Africa is an essential strategy to survive in an environment that is highly competitive”. According to her, when a bank adopts digitization that is efficient and sustainable, it allows it to distinguish itself and at the same time to foster a fairly relevant customer relationship; because today everyone is online.
“With the digital revolution, the Cameroonian bank faces a combination of several new factors that encourage it to adapt and rethink in a global way its economic model, its customer relationship, its operational processes, its modes of operation. , its internal organization and finally, its place as an economic player, “added Bouchra Geawhari.
The two days of work of the ABF in Douala revolved around themes such as the situation of the Cameroonian banking sector, government policy to encourage and contribute to banking dynamics, supervision of the repayment of debts, etc.
