MainOne and Tizeti today announced the completion of a joint development project with Facebook to enable the expansion of Internet services in Lagos. The partnership will benefit from MainOne’s fiber-optic connectivity, Tizeti’s twenty new solar-powered towers and Facebook’s Wi-Fi Express. Through this project, Internet services will be more accessible throughout Lagos Land, including Ajao Estate, Surulere, Ikeja, Omole, Magodo, Gbagada, Oworonshoki, Bariga, Anthony Village, Ogudu, Ojota, Ketu and Alapere.

Tizeti built and will operate the solar-powered Wi-Fi towers across Lagos, while MainOne will provide multi-Gb / s Internet bandwidth to the outer towers via a combination of fiber optic and microwave connections. This Internet service will be provided to end-users via Wi-Fi, including through Tizeti’s Express Wi-Fi hotspots in Lagos. This partnership supports the three partners’ common goal of connecting more people to high quality Internet services in the most cost-effective way.
