The World Bank and Gabon have launched a new project called eGabon, estimated at $ 56 million, it aims to develop ICT applications for the socio-economic development of the country.
The eGabon project, which will be implemented by the Gabonese government in collaboration with the Bretton Woods institution, will focus on improving the performance of the national health information system.
“This project will strengthen the epidemiological surveillance system by using ICTs to collect the necessary data and disseminate alert and permanent response information. More broadly, this will accelerate the development of eHealth, defined by the WHO as digital services for personal well-being, both in the public and private sectors, “said Elisabeth Huybens, director World Bank operations for Gabon.
In addition, this project will develop and structure an ecosystem of digital innovation in Gabon, by installing an incubator specialized in ICT in Libreville, which will offer a better environment in terms of infrastructure and support for startups.
As a reminder, the eGabon project is a continuation of the CAB4 (Central African Backbone) project currently under way, which aims to increase the geographic coverage of high-capacity broadband networks and reduce the costs of communications services on the Internet. territory of the Gabonese Republic.
