Born in 1970 in Abéché, Chad, Oumar Ayoumbaye, whose school career ended at the second grade level, designed an extra flat air conditioner that is self-sufficient in terms of energy. This invention is intended for nomads and tourists traveling on camels, dromedaries or elephants in hot places.

This air conditioner is also intended for rural African populations and non-electrified tourist camps. The idea of designing portable air conditioning came to Oumar Ayoumbaye during a hospital stay in Saudi Arabia. This invention, which some people may find “fanciful”, helps keep nomadic populations cool as they cross the desert. In addition, this device can also recharge a mobile phone.

The portable humidifier works on solar and wind energy, it can cool the hump of a camel. But when the hump of this mammal is cold, it can go seventeen days without drinking, which makes it possible to cover longer distances on the back of dromedaries or camels.

Nevertheless, this invention could be used by many Africans in their homes or when traveling. This invention enabled Oumar Ayoumbaye to win the silver medal in 2014 at the International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva.

Oumar Ayoumbaye holds 5 patents issued by OAPI (African Organization for Intellectual Property). His first invention, presented at the African Invention and Technological Innovations Exhibition in 2003, concerned a crusher intended to crush soap nuts.

In 2015, the magazine “Décideurs Magazine” mentioned Oumar Ayoumbaye as one of the African economic decision-makers who matter.

For more than 15 years, Oumar Ayoumbaye has put his creativity at the service of the well-being of the Chadian population. From now on, his inventions must be made available to the entire African population.
