The incumbent telecommunications operator Sudatel announced on July 3, 2018, the signing of a strategic partnership agreement with the Finnish telecom equipment manufacturer Nokia. The collaboration concerns the deployment of a very high speed telecoms network across Sudan. The two parties will test the Nokia 4.5G Pro, 4.9G and 5G mobile technologies as well as Nokia’s fixed-line fiber optic portfolio to improve the mobile and residential broadband experience.
The tests of Sudatel and Nokia will begin first in Karthoum, the capital before being extended to the rest of the country.
