Senegal hosts a training and research program in Africa that will be dedicated to renewable energies. This initiative was launched by Canada’s International Development Research Center (IDRC) and the French company Meridiam.
The program will be led by the International Center for Training and Research in Solar Energy (CIFRES) of the Ecole polytechnique de Dakar. Its goal is to train 200 technicians and electricians.
“We are helping and financing the Dakar Polytechnic University to support a capacity building program in the renewable energy sector, worth more than 120 million CFA francs ($ 206,400),” said Thierry Deau. , the chairman and director of Meridiam.
“We expect 200 people, agents, technicians and researchers to participate in the training to have the capacity to do the work required for the expansion of the renewable energy sector,” said Ann Weston, IDRC Program Leader.
