35-year-old Anglo-Nigerian Jason Njoku is considered by the American magazine Forbes to be one of the ten most promising young millionaires in Africa. In 2014, he explained to AFP: “My idea was simple: take Nollywood films [the Nigerian audiovisual industry, which produces between 1,500 and 2,000 films per year] and put them online. Thus was born IrokoTV, which is riding the success of Nollywood both locally and abroad.
The platform was launched in 2011, thanks to funding provided in particular by the American investment fund Tiger Global. When he has just raised 19 million dollars (more than 17 million euros), in particular by opening his capital to the French Canal +, Jason Njoku hopes to record his first profits in late 2016 or early 2017.
