Founded by Michael PAMBO OGNANA and Ian OTANDO, Africa Up is a start-up that aims to solve one of the biggest issues affecting entrepreneurs in Africa and the diaspora, the lack of visibility. These two young Gabonese have created a platform that aims to become the showcase of projects and events of Afro-entrepreneurs.
Introduce yourself and your journey (briefly)
Hello, my name is Michael PAMBO OGNANA, I was born in Port-Gentil in Gabon, I’m 31 years old and I live in the Lyonnaise region. I grew up in Libreville, the Gabonese capital where I got my degree in 2005, then I continued my studies in France where I obtained my degree in computer science and networks. I am currently Software Engineer, I design and develop web and mobile applications.
What is your project and its mission?
Africa Up is a platform that aims to become the showcase of projects and events of Afro-entrepreneurs. It is aimed primarily at project developers in Africa and in its diaspora.
The African entrepreneurial ecosystem is more and more dynamic and is behind very good initiatives around the world. But many of these initiatives are sorely lacking in visibility. That’s why we launched this modern mobile platform that will:
- Allow to find all the events around African entrepreneurship and to create new ones
- Highlight projects and entrepreneurs as a marketing showcase
- Connect different users via networking features
- Create a community of users who share the desire to participate in building the Africa of tomorrow.
- Promote initiatives that are of most interest
Can you introduce your team?
At the head of the project is Ian OTANDO and I are the founders behind the Africa Up concept. Ian is a young 31 year old Gabonese who also works in IT with a similar path to mine, he is an expert in mobile solutions. Undertaking is a passion we have in common that has made us want to work together.
To give life to the Africa Up project, we are surrounded by close friends, Lilian MAMBANA, Sidonie GUIENDZA and Ernelle MERE. Together we work on the marketing, communication and strategic evolution aspects of the project.
What are the next steps ?
Currently, Africa Up is accessible through its mobile application version 1.1.0 available for android and ios smartphones. The next version of the app should be out before the end of the year. We are currently finalizing the beta testing phase by gradually opening the application to the general public and activating the first linking features.
The next big step will be to set up Africa Up’s headquarters somewhere in Africa and offer new services that really meet the expectations of entrepreneurs.
In particular, we are thinking about integrating a crowdfunding solution.
But above all, we are open and attentive to the needs of Afro-entrepreneurs in order to bring out an innovative, dynamic and useful platform.
What do you need and how can AfrikaTech help you?
The strength of our project lies in the community of Afro-entrepreneurs we are going to build. And to create it we must be visible to all.
We now need to make the app known to a wide audience. We want to make a platform that contributes to the growth of this ambitious Africa that wins, an Africa of entrepreneurs. AfrikaTech with its notoriety can help us gain visibility with Internet users, future users of Africa Up.
