According to a ranking published on March 16 by the independent consulting firm Skytrax, six of the ten best African airports are in South Africa.
According to this ranking, which is based on a survey of 13.25 million travelers of 106 different nationalities between June 2015 and February 2016, Cape Town International Airport tops the list on the African scale. This airport ranks 22nd globally out of a total of 550 airports studied.
Two other South African airports are in the Top 50 worldwide: Johannesburg (30th) and Durban King Shaka (35th).
Next are Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (Mauritius), East London Airport (South Africa), Port Elizabeth Airport (South Africa), Cairo International Airport (Egypt), Bloemfontein Airport (South Africa) and l Seychelles International Airport.
Marrakech International Airport (photo) closes the African Top 10.
To establish its ranking, Skytrax asked travelers about their experiences at airports in areas ranging from check-in to security, transfers, shopping and arrival.
