The Forum X-Afrique returns this year for its third edition on Saturday, March 10, 2018 on the campus of the Ecole polytechnique. This forum aims to promote entrepreneurship in Africa. During a day, about twenty start-ups will present their projects with an African focus.
It has been organized for three years now by the association X-Afrique of the Ecole Polytechnique. The latter brings together Africans and lovers of Africa X with the aim of shining the African culture and entrepreneurship in Africa through various events during the year.
Last year’s forum
The Forum is the main event of X-Africa. The second edition of 2017 was chaired by the then Ivorian Minister of the Budget, Mr. Abdourahmane Cissé and other great African personalities with more than 600 visitors during the day. You will find on the site https://x-afrique.binets.fr/ all the information concerning the event of 2017.
This year’s forum
This year, the theme of the Forum is New Technologies for Africa. Indeed, Africa is shaken by new technologies from all around, in terms of economy, education, health and culture. We are witnessing the birth of several start-ups, companies using these new technologies and galvanized by the bubbling African entrepreneurs.
What is the share of new technologies in African growth? How to take advantage of this era of new technologies? How do we appropriate it and adapt it to our real needs in Africa?
Exchanges on questions will take place throughout the forum through conferences, round tables and exhibitions of start-ups.
Round tables
For this third edition, there will be major speakers as for previous editions including
Valérie Levkov: Managing Director EDF Africa and Middle East
Bruno Bensasson: Managing Director Engie Africa
Ousseynou Nakoulima: Director of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency at the African Development Bank
Henri Boyé: Expert Consultant in Energy and Development
Valérie-Noelle Kodjo Diop: Head of Innovation and Alternative Banking Models for Africa Region of Societe Generale

Christian Kamayou: founder of MyAfrican Startup
Two round tables will mark this third edition:
Round table n ° 1: How will Africa succeed in its own energy transition?
It will address the energy issues in Africa. Indeed, Africa has the advantage of not going down the same path as its predecessors in terms of energy and making a sustainable and environmentally friendly choice. What are the paths to get there?
Round table n ° 2: Entrepreneurship in Africa: innovation or recycling of imported ideas?
African entrepreneurship will be addressed in all its aspects. Does disruption really take into account African realities or would it not just be an inappropriate import of ideas from elsewhere?
Pitch contest
A pitch contest, chaired by a jury of experts, will be organized throughout the day with different phases. It will be for entrepreneurs to outline their disruptive ideas. The start-up who has been the most convinced will be awarded the Forum prize.
