A first in Rwanda. A robotics training camp brought together some 40 outstanding students from 20 schools in Kigali, Rwanda’s capital.
The “Robotics Camp Rwanda 2018” lasted three weeks and was led by engineering students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
This program is part of a public-private partnership organized with the support of the engineering department of the Kigali Bank.
The goal of the camp, promote training in science and technology.
Encouraging young students to think about industrial transformation in Africa is the challenge that Rwanda wants to meet.
“We are working with the right skills in terms of using a machine and a robot to solve a problem. What we hope for is to see some students here and those who will participate in the future camps become robotics engineers who can design robots made in Rwanda in fields such as agriculture, aeronautics financial engineering where the building. That’s what we hope to accomplish, “said Regis Rugemanshuro, CEO of Kigali Techouse Bank.
The camp helped some students get closer to realizing their dreams.
“I dream of becoming a computer engineer. I would like to be an engineer in robotics because I believe that robotics is the easiest way to solve various problems around us, “said student Arlette Ineza Ngabonzima.
Throughout this training, students learned how to make basic robots and their applications in everyday life.
Science and technology promise a development potential for Rwanda’s economy.
